Introduction to the Spicetone 6Appeal:

The Spicetone 6Appeal is a modern take on the poly distortion, hexaphonic (hex) fuzz pedal. The 6Appeal has an all analog signal path under digital control. This means that users can store presets, unlike traditional analog pedals which did not have any way to store and recall sounds.

The outstanding features of the 6Appeal include a true stereo output path, enabling individual strings to be panned hard left, hard right, or anywhere in between. The 6Appeal also makes use of "spread" or the ability change the balance of processing from high strings to low strings. For example, higher strings can have more distortion than lower strings. Or the tone of higher strings can differ from lower strings.

The unit also has two low pass filters with resonance, dedicated to the left and right output channels. All parameters in the 6Appeal can be modulated by two LFOs or two internal sequencers as well as external MIDI controllers.

The pedal, made in Estonia, is rugged and well built. Opening the unit up shows a modern device using surface mount technology.

The designers of the 6Appeal implemented just about every feature one can imagine given a device with six fuzz channels, two filters, two sequencers and two LFOs. Part of the challenge of such a novel pedal as the 6Appeal will be finding the right musical context for these various sonic possibilities.
