Bernie Marsden - Roland G-808 - Japan - Player Magazine - November 15, 1980

Most people know Bernie Marsden as the guitarist from Whitesnake, who wrote or co-wrote some of their biggest hits with David Coverdale.

Perhaps because of his mainstream, hard rock credentials, Roland ran this advertisement in the November, 1980 edition of Player magazine emphasizing the qualities of the G-808 as a straight ahead guitar.

The text highlights the construction quality, humbucking pickups, and the ability to connect the G-808 directly to a conventional amplifier with a standard 1/4" guitar cable. Note the image shows a 1/4" cable connecting to a Roland amp.

Of course, the ad does mention connecting the G-808 to a Roland guitar synthesizer to expand ones sonic horizons.

The phone numbers on the add list shops that sell Roland guitar synthesizers and Roland guitars.
